Borough Council Election Results 2011

Here are the results for the wards relevant to the SLRA area:

Michael Claughton (Con) (picture left) has retained Bockhanger Ward with a reduced majority, mainly due to the new Ashford Independent candidate, Shirley Ambrose, who came second. Michael Claughton took 51% of the votes (62% in 2007) and Shirley Ambrose took 26%. Full results are available here.
Rita Hawes (LibDem) lost Boughton Aluph and Eastwell to the new Ashford Independent candidate, Winston Michael, (picture right) who took 39% of the votes, whilst Rita Hawes took 36% (69% in 2007). Full results are available here.
In Downs West, the Conservatives retained the seat with a reduced majority, again mainly due to the Ashford Independent candidate. David Robey (Con) (picture left) took 49% of the votes (Neil Wallace (Con) 67% in 2007), and Antony Bartlett (Ash Ind) took 30%. Full results are available here.
In Kennington, the new Ashford Independent candidate, Philip Sims, (picture right) narrowly beat Elizabeth Tweed (Con) into second place, by just 25 votes. Philip Sims took 46% of the votes, Elizabeth Tweed took 43%. Full results are available here.
